Comedian Katt Williams has explained why he would be reluctant to meet and hang out with billionaire Elon Musk.Over the past year, Friday After Next star Williams has garnered increased attention for his no-holds-barred takes on a number of his fellow celebrities. His wide-ranging Club Shay Shay podcast interview with Shannon Sharpe in January 2024 has exceeded 88 million views on YouTube alone.During an appearance on fellow comedian Theo Von’s podcast, This Past Weekend, Williams briefly discussed Tesla and SpaceX CEO Musk, who himself has seen a boost in attention following his 2022 acquisition of X, formerly Twitter, and his recently assumed position in President Donald Trump’s administration. While speaking with Von, Williams spoke of using his Cybertruck, which is manufactured by Musk’s company, Tesla. “When I’m home on the ranch, that’s my farm truck,” said the star. “I love it.”
“It feels like you’re driving an email, that’s what I feel like sometimes,” Von said of the electric vehicle. “It just feels like I’m in the future.”
“It does feel like a UFO,” Williams responded, before Von asked him if he had ever met Musk.
“No, no I don’t, uh,” Williams said before a seconds-long pause. “I don’t generally enjoy the company of billionaires.”
“Yeah. You know I’m trying to think if I know of any good billionaires,” Von said.”Well it’s not that they’re not good,” Williams explained. “But I’m saying, I don’t need to be reminded of my inadequacies, you know?”Newsweek has contacted a representative of Musk via email for comment.

Williams’ opinion on billionaires is notably less acerbic than the remarks he has made about other celebrities over the past year. On Club Shay Shay last year, he disparaged many of his fellow comedians and claimed that rapper and actor Ludacris’ career path was determined by “the Illuminati.”
At one point, Williams told former Denver Broncos tight end Sharpe that his penchant for cursing in his stage acts has seen him shut out of “mainstream” comedy conversations. He also said that comedian Joe Rogan would not want him on his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience, because of this.”If you were a comedian that cussed, you were ridiculed by the mainstream comedy-geist,” Williams explained. “That would be like me being on Joe Rogan. Joe don’t want me on there. I need to be on Shannon. Joe’s got six comedians that’s never been funny [that] he wants to push out. That’s really how it is.”A clip of the interview was shared on X, where it caught Rogan’s attention. Responding to the claims, Rogan countered the idea that he has no interest in Williams, and proceeded to invite him on his podcast.
“I love Katt,” Rogan wrote last January. “He’s one of my favorite comics and I’d love to have him on. We talk about him all the time. If he’s down I’ll make it happen.”Williams subsequently appeared on Rogan’s popular podcast last February.
