Taylor Swift Chiefs Game Outfit Detail Goes Viral—’She’s Def Superstitious’

Taylor Swift fans are convinced the singer is “superstitious” after noticing a detail in the outfit she wore to the AFC Championship game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills.

The Chiefs have made their way to the Super Bowl thanks to their 32-29 win at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri on Sunday—and some fans are theorizing Swift helped them get there. The “Karma” singer was there to support boyfriend Travis Kelce, a tight end for the Chiefs.

Even though Swift made a fashion statement by being decked out head-to-toe in Louis Vuitton, it was her black pleated skirt that was the focus of fans. The Swifties, her fans, pointed out that the garment had a striking resemblance to the skirt she wore to the AFC Championship last year. Swifties took to X (formerly Twitter) theorizing how Swift’s outfit might have helped the win.

Newsweek emailed a spokesperson for Swift for comment on Monday outside of normal business hours.

“wait is this the same skirt from last afc champs??? oh she’s def superstitious,” one person asked, sharing a photo of Swift from this year and last year. The post has been viewed more than 551,000 times.

“is she wearing the same pleated skirt as last year??? Superstitious queen,” someone else wrote, which has over 281,000 views.

“Just that Tayvoodoo skirt working its magic,” a different X user commented.

“We love a girlie who understands sports superstition,” a fourth posted.

Another fan shared a video snippet from an interview Swift did previously in which she said: “In the words of Michael Scott, ‘I’m not superstitious but I am a little stitous.'” Michael is a character from the TV series The Office. This had more than 206,000 views at the time of writing.

Taylor Swift arrives prior to the AFC Championship Game between the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium on January 26, 2025, in Kansas City, Missouri.

Swift completed the look with a black and gold Louis Vuitton monogram knit, a Louis Vuitton chain wallet, a black beanie from the designer, and a pair of the label’s Star Trail ankle boots. She also donned a pair of red tights.

Last year, Swift paired a miniskirt and black tights with a red cashmere crew neck from Guest in Residence, a business founded by model Gigi Hadid.

This isn’t the only thing that caught the attention of Swift’s fans on Sunday, as they claimed to have lip-read what the singer and Travis Kelce said to each other after the Chiefs’ win.The couple celebrated with a kiss on the field as confetti fell around them. Lip-readers have deemed that Kelce told Swift, “I love you so much,” to which they believe Swift responded: “I love you. I’m so proud of you.”X user @TayvisHaze shared a video of the exchange with the caption: “Travis: ‘i love you so much’ Taylor: ‘i love you. I’m so proud of you.'”

“Love them both so much, this is everything,” one person commented, while another added: “omg [oh my God] sobbing, he is so in his feels.”User @nessianxx also shared a clip of the exchange, writing: “THE ‘I LOVE YOU’ *KISS* AND ‘I’M SO PROUD OF YOU’ IM GONNA KMS [kill myself].”Swift and Kelce’s relationship has captured the world’s attention ever since they started dating in 2023. The couple first met after Kelce publicly expressed interest in the pop star during an episode of the New Heights podcast. Then, in September 2023, Swift made her first appearance at a Chiefs game when she was spotted in a box with Kelce’s mother, Donna Kelce. Swift would later be spotted at several Chiefs games throughout the NFL season while on break from her Eras Tour. Travis Kelce was also in attendance at a multitude of Swift’s sellout shows.
